Touched by Royalty

Preparations have been underway for a couple of days in Buis-les-Baronnies for the visit of Prince Albert of Monaco. From 1643 to 1792 Buis-les-Baronnies was part of the Grimaldi (Monaco) empire and they have retained good relationships across the centuries. As part of Prince Albert’s visit to all of the old Grimaldi duchies he was welcomed by a large crowd and a very proud mayor.

Although it was drizzly for most of the day the sun finally shone for the official part of the ceremony. It started with the royal walk, during which the Prince unveiled a plaque on the Promenade des Princes of Monaco, then back to the town hall where he received the key to the city and unveiled another plaque for the gardens of the town hall.

During the walk I had the chance to say bonjour and shake hands with the Prince. Fortunatley he wasn’t talkative as my french has not improved that much! I think I will be on France 3 news on the tele tonight!!!! Unfortunately I could not shake hands and take a photo at the same time so you will have to take my word on it. Jim will vouch for me.

And finally a couple of very patriotic onlookers.

  1. Well Jim & Kerry, I have officially joined the transition to retirement brigade. Now on 10 weeks long service leave and then back on a 3 day working week at the end of July being Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday with every weekend now a 4 dayer. Looking forward to it too.

The photos are just great and keep them coming.

As Tuttie said Eagles were lucky to win on Friday night but yes we will take it. Sometimes you just need some luck and we did.

  2. Love that red jacket and hat! Albert had better get himself home and start making babies or the Grimaldis will be finished!

    • There was much banter and good humour in the speeches yesterday (although we could not understand what they were saying) I was wondering if that had been mentioned by the Major.

  3. OMG, just saw the bulk wine fueling depot, wow that would be great in the back yard.

  4. OMG touched by royalty . We we touched by royalty last night as well, , kick after the siren and we won, kangaroos were better all night and desired to win, anyhow, we take it and move on, we are just playing well
Jammie’s playing WAFL today , so it will be interesting to see how he plays

    • Yes, well done Nic Nat. Hope Jamie has a good on today.
