Dinner on the tower

Last night we were invited to Wendy’s for dinner on the tower. It is a little circular tower/turret coming up from the bank of the river and has a connecting bridge from Wendy’s terrace. On a balmy evening and with twilight lasting until about 9:15pm it was the perfect place to be. What an amazing dinner setting!

From the tower up, down and across the river, we had a view of everything; the calming river, the karaoke 40th birthday party over at the bar, the busy piazza with people strolling to restaurants or just wondering along.

And what an interesting lady. She has lived in the UK, Brazil, Argentina and Italy and worked in many different fields. As a mature woman she went to Agriculture College in the UK and after graduating worked for a Landlord doing everything from driving tractors, harvesting, servicing machinery and raising 24,000 ducks.

Wendy is a keen craftswoman and loves needlework, patchwork and her collectables.

Unfortunately due to health problems, Wendy has this little piece of paradise on the market and she and her little dachshund Margo will return to the UK once it sells. But in the meantime, she is out and about walking Margo each day and our evening was another wonderful experience here in Ponte a Serraglio.

  4. Hi Kerry & Jim
Love the blog and really enjoy your fabulous adventure. We are heading off today for Alice Springs, Longreach, Winton and Mt Isa for the annual rodeo and then home. Will be away about 6 weeks. Ernie is still going really well. We are waiting for the fall from high that he seems to be one. Hopefully there isn’t one. Had the Rural Ambassador’s Dinner at the Country Club last night which Andrew was the entrant for Northampton. Unfortunately he didn’t win but we were still very proud of him. A girl from Mullewa who is in mental health won which was very appropriate. Gaylene and Mark came with us as well. Have been seeing quite a bit of Mila and she is going very quickly. It is very cold and windy here but still no rain. Crops are suffering.. Anyway must go and finish packing. Love Ros & Terry

    • Have a great trip to Qld. We have our fingers crossed for rain.

    • Safe travels Ros & Terry. We have our fingers crossed for some rain for you.

      Cheers….Kerry & Jim

  5. Hi Jim & Kerry We have been following all your posts on the Web and you certainly have been having a ball. This latest Dinner and meeting Wendy sounds like a treat. You will be happy to know I was just watching the last 2 minutes of Adelaide V West Coast and the latter won by a goal with 58 secs to go! We have had a great time in Adelaide with Joh, Myles and Elroy – he is a very good baby and before he reached 3 months he was sleeping through the night from 8-30 to 5 or 6 the next morning. Does not cry much and goes for his little sleeps during the day. We leave on 31 July in about 3 weeks. We head to Noosa for 10 weeks, then Berarra for a month before we head to Melbourne until mid Dec then back to Adelaide for 3 weeks before we return home on 5 January! All is well here and we are so happy you two are having such a great time. Good to see one of us got to do the Europe extended holiday. Keep well. Love Graham & Heather

    • Such a special time to spend with Joh & family. I’m sure you have enjoyed every minute.
